City trails near Evansville
1. Rivertown Trail, Newburgh
The city of Newburg is a few miles east of Evansville and is also situated along the Ohio river. Newburg has a charming downtown which will make for a great start point as you walk along Rivertown trail and French Island Trail to the Newburg Locks and Dam Overlook.
2. Burdette Trail
The Burdette trail is located west of Evansville. It takes you from the University of Southern Indiana to Burdette Park. This trail has some good nature views and makes for a good walk, run or bike ride.
3. High Rail Trail to University of Evansville
he High Rail Trail is a pedestrian and bike trail on the near east side of downtown Evansville. It starts on the intersection of Riverside Dr and Gilbert Ave, and goes north to the Oak Hill Cemetery and Arboretum. The trail intersects with another pedestrian trail towards the northern end on Walnut Ave that leads you directly to the University of Evansville campus.
4. Pigeon Creek Greenway Passage
Pigeon Creek Greenway Passage is a pedestrian and bike trail that goes from downtown Evansville to northern Evansville. It is a great trail that exposes you to the Ohio River and other great places like Evansville Museum, the USS LST-325 naval landing ship, Lamasco Park, and Garvin Park.
