1. Erie Lackawanna Trail
The Erie Lackawanna Trail is a very popular trail in Lake County, Indiana. There are plenty of great cities along the trail to stop and visit such as Highland, Griffith, Schererville, and Crown Point. The trail connects to the Little Calumet River Trail in Highland and it also connects to the Oak Savannah Trail in Griffith.
2. Oak Savannah Trail
The Oak Savannah Trail is a popular trail that goes from Griffith, Indiana to Hobart, Indiana. The trail has great prairie-like views and is also connected to the Erie Lackawanna Trail and the Chesapeake and Ohio Greenway.
3. Wolf Lake Trail
The Wolf Lake Trail loops around Wolf Lake in Hammond, Indiana. The Illiana Marina Trail is part of the loop for a short period before the trail turns back into the Wolf Lake Trail. Along the trail you will see beautiful lake front scenery, the Wolf Lake Aquatic Play Center, and the Horseshoe Hammond Casino.
4. Prairie Duneland Trail
The Prairie Duneland Trail runs east and west in Lake County, Indiana, from Portage to Chesterton. The trail connects to the Oak Savannah Trail on the west end. Further east there is an access trail to the Iron Horse Heritage Trail. The Iron Horse Heritage Trail connects to Portage Imagination Glen Park and it also runs parallel north of the Prairie Duneland Trail.
5. Little Calumet River Trail
The Little Calumet River Trail is a combination of 2 trails in Lake County, Indiana that goes along the Little Calumet River. The first trail goes over 5.5 miles. It starts near Riverside Park and goes east past other great parks such as Wicker Memorial Park and Homestead Park. The second trail is east of the first trail and continues east for roughly 3.5 miles till it reaches the Little Calumet River Levee Trail.
6. Pennsy Greenway
The Pennsy Greenway is a pedestrian trail in Lake County, Indiana that goes from Munster to Schererville. There are plenty of great places along the trail such as Downtown Schererville, Centennial Park, Plum Creek Park, and Peter G Redar Memorial Park.
7. Chesapeake and Ohio Greenway
The Chesapeake and Ohio Greenway goes from Griffith, Indiana to Merrillville, Indiana. The trail connects to the Oak Savannah Trail towards its western end in Griffith, Indiana.
8. Singing Sands Trail
The Singing Sands Trail is a trail that connects to the east end of the Calumet Trail. The trail goes further east towards Michigan city where it connects to the existing Trail Creek Greenway Trail. There are multiple phase planned extensions of the trail that will extend it further east.
9. Iron Horse Heritage Trail
The Iron Horse Heritage Trail runs east and west in Portage, Indiana. The trail has access to the Portage Imagination Glen Park as well a few mountain bike trail heads in the park. It also has an access trail to the Prairie Duneland Trail, a parallel trail south of the Iron Horse Heritage Trail.
