Fort Harrison State Park is a historic park located northeast of downtown Indianapolis. The roughly 1700 acre park is one of the largest and most popular parks in Central Indiana with plenty of great park features to enjoy all year round. It was established in 1903 as a U.S army post and much of the buildings and structures have been preserved throughout the park.
Riverside Park is one of the largest parks in Indianapolis, spanning over 862 acres. The popular park has a wonderful landscape that includes the White River which flows through the park, open fields, native plants, and lots of mature trees.
The park also has pedestrian trails throughout the entire the park and plenty of other park amenities for people of all ages. During the summer time, plenty of concerts and festivals are held at the Taggart Memorial amphitheater in the park.
Garfield Park is the oldest city park in Indianapolis located south of downtown Indianapolis along the Pleasant Run creek. The 128 acre park also includes an amazing Conservatory and Sunken Garden that are filled with a wide variety of trees, plants, and flowers. There are lots of pavilions and parking lots included all around the park as well as some great amenities for the arts such as the Garfield Park Arts Center and the MacAllister Amphitheater.
Broad Ripple Park is located very close to the heart of Broad Ripple district in Indianapolis and along the White River. The park is free and spans over 137 acres of land including great river views and park amenities.
Popular features of the park include a large fenced in dog park and walking trails that expose you to the whole park as well as the White River. The park hosts community events and concerts during the summer time and also has the Broad Ripple Family Center that includes an indoor playground, indoor track, and conference rooms.

Sahm Park is an 85 acre city park located on the north end of Indianapolis. The popular park is filled with lots of amenities such as an aquatic center, tennis courts, and a challenging 18 hole disc golf course. Located across the street from the park is the Sahm Golf Course and Driving Range.
Brookside Park is located on the near east side of Indianapolis between Rural St and North Sherman Dr. The park is over 100 acres and filled with many amenities. It is used all year round for community events, festivals, and sports. Pogue's Run, a tributary of the White River also runs through the park and into the neighbouring Spades Park. There is also a pedestrian trail that connects Brookside Park to Spades Park.
Christian Park is a 73 acre park located on the east side of Indianapolis. The Pleasant Run Trail and the Pleasant Run Creek go through the park and make it a great place to walk, bike, and enjoy the outdoors. The park is filled with plenty of mature trees and also includes great amenities like a family center, playgrounds, and a football field.
Washington Park is a 130 acre park located north of downtown Indianapolis. The park was also the home to the Washington Park Children’s Zoo which is evident from the acres of wonderful woodland and wetlands spread out all over the park.
Washington park is also a favourite for many local disc golfers in Indianapolis. The Washington park family center provides plenty of great resources, activities, and events for the community.
Southwestway Park is a 587 acre park located in south western Indianapolis. The park is a popular destination for the various hiking and mountain biking trails that are spread throughout the park. It is also conveniently located next to Winding River Golf Course which includes an 18-hole golf course and a driving range.
Northwestway Park is a 100 acre park located in Pike Township, Indianapolis. The park is a popular destination for locals and includes great amenities like an aquatic center, soccer fields, and outdoor fitness station, and a playground. There is also a pedestrian trail that circles the park and includes great nature views as well as a challenging disc golf course.
Fredrick Douglass Park is an 80 acre park located on the east side of Indianapolis. The park has a large community center that hosts programs for the community throughout the year. Fredrick Douglass Golf Course is a nice 9 hole golf course that is accessible from the park. Next to the community center is a large modern playground as well as an outdoor fitness station.
Watkins Park is a 21 acre neighborhood park located on the west side of Indianapolis, next to the the Fall Creek Trail. The park hosts plenty of community events throughout the year and also features a large open green space, outdoor shelters, a community garden, a family center, as well as the Flanner House which hosts programs to support the community.
Ensign Graham Edward Martin Park is a 67 acre park located north of downtown Indianapolis, near the Flanner House Homes Historic District. The south end of the Fall Creek Trail starts at the park. Walking or biking along the trail is a great way to explore the whole park and see great views of big mature trees, large open fields, and the Fall Creek River. The park is also close to some great local restaurants in Indianapolis such as the Amp at 16 Tech as well as a few other restaurants on 10th street.
Paul Ruster Park is a 545 acre park located east of Indianapolis. The park is a great place to visit for nature lovers because it has large open fields and a vast amount of mature trees. The park also has a large dog park area as well as a sledding hill and a playground.
Perry Park is a 20 acre park located south of Indianapolis. The park has large open fields, a soccer field, tennis courts, a playground, and a few shelters. One of the unique features of the park is an ice rink, which is a rare find in Indianapolis parks.
Thatcher Park is a 22 acre park located west of Indianapolis. The park has lots of great open field space and a large recreational center that has a swimming pool inside of it. The park is also conveniently located across the street from Thatcher Golf Course.
Arsenal Park is located south of Broad Ripple neighborhood in Indianapolis on 46th Street between Indianola Ave and Haverford Ave. Spanning about 13 acres, the neighborhood park is open all year round and contains beautiful trees, a modern playground with a splash pad, and a skateboard park.
The park also includes a great open field that is often used for neighbourhood community sports like touch football and soccer. A community garden in the park is available to the public for anyone looking to rent a raised garden bed.
Bertha Ross Park is a roughly 15 acre public park located in Indianapolis near the intersection of 38 St and Michigan Ave. The park is named after Bertha M. Ross, a former member of the Northwest Civic Assocation and the Arc of Indiana. She devoted her life to serving the community and co-founded a youth baseball program at the park. The park also contains a beautiful landscape that includes mature trees and a great view of the historic Golden Hill neighborhood.
